Melodies for Monday

4B:
92-97
Rhythm 10.A and 10.B

4E:
the chorale... All parts
A note regarding solfege: it has come to my attention that the complex modulations are making the solfege difficult and therefore making the understanding of the chorale more difficult than it needs to be. I suggest when practicing, try without solfege, or perhaps on a fixed do solfege (Do=C/C#/Cb, Re=D/D#/Db, etc...) . Remember the goal of the sight singing is not to sing the proper notes with proper solfege names, but to comprehend and understand the musical gestures. Try it out on fixed do, or just on na-na-na/da-da-da/mi-mi-mi (whatever consonant/vowel combo works for your voice). On monday we will be reviewing for the final with more singing and playing so get all the parts in your ear and in your voice and in your fingers. I don't care if you say the "proper" solfege or not, since there are many different interpretations for this complex chorale.

All students: see below for info regarding the transcription project, due Friday 3/12

Transcription Final Part

Great work on the transcription project thus far everyone!  For the final, each student will have a slightly different assignment.  Please refer to the comments given at the bottom of your first draft.  The final version, which should be clean and legible, is due on the day of your individual sight singing final, either Thursday 3/11 or Friday 3/12.  Please staple the previous versions to the back and write the title and timing of your transcribed portion.
